Working as a duo with an offline editor this role shapes the initial storyline architecture.
Typically starting several weeks prior to being joined by an offline editor, their expertise lies in identifying and seamlessly weaving together compelling stories from raw footage, the ‘rushes’, resulting in captivating and entertaining content that truly connects with our audiences.
Collaborating closely with a Post Producer, this role plays a crucial role in shaping the stories outlined by the Post Producer, infusing them with drama and elevating the storylines.
Their expertise lies in the art of visual storytelling and music editing, which are vital in crafting compelling and entertaining narratives for our audiences.
• Meticulously reviewing all the rushes (raw footage) captured for a given episode to discern compelling storyline ideas.
• Constructing the story's framework, akin to a 'script', using AVID Media Composer software to create a cohesive sequence.
• Crafting scripts for voice-over narrative to enrich and bolster the storylines.
• Efficiently managing screening deadlines and maintaining open communication with Supervisors.
• Utilising the base story structure/timeline provided by the Post Producer to build the story's pace and strategically place visuals.
• Demonstrating creative flair in selecting and editing music to underscore or amplify the drama within the storyline.
• Proficiency in using Avid Media Composer software, not only for constructing the story but also during producer and other review screenings.
• Understanding technical aspects related to viewer perspectives, character geography, and line crossing.
